|Rear Extension, Hove|
On a tapering site within a well established residential area the brief for this extension was to create a more substantial family kitchen that integrates more with the garden space; however the new extension was also to remain separate from the existing ground floor yet to retain a visual connection with it. A further less formal seating and relaxation area is also required to be combined within the kitchen.
The shape of the extension is formed by the angles of both the existing building and the site boundaries, the side storage connects with the rear via the flat roof 'passing through' the existing brickwork; modern materials further highlighting the new building's connection with the old.
The internal spaces: Kitchen, Utility and WC, have improved accessibility and an additional independent office space has been formed from the garage space.
